Return to Greece – Part One

Greece is a wonderful country, with great food and very warm people. I take every opportunity I can to visit this wonderful land. At the start of September I made my way to Tanagra Air Base, home of the fantastic Athens Flying Week, to meet up with the guys from the Aviation Photocrew. I had a days flying planned with one main target. More of that in the last post of course!

Our morning started with a flight to Kalamata to see the M-346 Silver Hawk and T-6 Texan II in action over the southern coast of the Peloponnese.

Our first join up of the day was with the T6 and smoke was on, quickly followed by 2 M-346 Silver hawks from 362 Mira. I lost count of the times we circled with our hosts being metres from the back of the venerable Skyvan, sorry PINK Skyvan!

On landing and having flown over the airbase and seeing a whole host of T2’s still lined up, we were taken to the squadron’s HQ and made warmly welcome. Sadly we couldnt get near the Buckeyes, though I had seen one fly in a previous visit to Greece.

After an hour or so we departed for another join up, but more of that in part three……

The bonus edition comes next – the full gallery will be on the Phinal post!!
