Nestled in the glorious countryside southeast of York lies the Allied Air Forces Memorial and Yorkshire Air Museum (to give it’s full title). Based on the former RAF Elvington the museum houses a collection of aircraft spanning the decades. You’ll find aircraft in hangers and parked outside. Also a superbly preserved Control Tower and collection of vehicles.
You can always tell when a place is cared for, the grounds are immaculate.

I was lucky to visit on a beautiful summer day in 2016, as you can see from the photos below. If you are in the area I highly recommend that you spend a whole day at this superb museum.
